Slips
For some projects, it isn’t always possible to use a brick in its normal shape. As the average thickness of a brick is between 9 and 10 cm, they are often too thick for the renovation of the cladding or even parts of new constructions (eg the cladding inside chimneys, ...).
Slips can be used to obtain the visual aspects of cladding. These are sawed stretchers of a brick, where the thickness varies between 14 mm and 22 mm. Corner slips are made by sawing the stretcher and the header of one side in a 90° angle. As a result, the corners of the wall are hidden in the same way as if it had been constructed with original bricks.
Treatment:
Depending on the underground, which should be dry and leveled, the slips are fixed by using a special glue or mortar. Pointing the joints is done in the same way as pointing the joints of normal bricks.
