Project overview
The architecture of the building exudes a sense of understated urbanity. For the façade, the nuanced Eris brick was chosen, laid in random bond and adhered with a 5 mm vertical joint. This construction technique enhances the monolithic character of the façade, while the subtle vertical joints provide refined detailing and delicate shadow play. The earthy tones of the Eris brick contribute to a warm, timeless appearance that integrates seamlessly into the existing streetscape of Kattenstraat.
Large window openings ensure transparency and accessibility, while the commercial function is visually well integrated into the façade composition.
The apartments on the upper floors were designed with attention to light, acoustics, and comfort. Thanks to their orientation, they enjoy views over both the lively street front and the quieter inner courtyard. The combination of functions makes Kattenstraat 24 an exemplary case of qualitative urban infill, balancing sustainability and contextual sensitivity.
